Our Story
Kindwaters Therapy was conceived from a deep-rooted desire to create a space where silenced or overlooked stories find their voice. Inspired by the founder Marcus Manning’s own life experiences and the diverse communities he encountered, Kindwaters became a vessel for the power of stories to heal, connect, and transform.
Adopted into a middle-class white family at three months of age, Marcus faced the isolating realities of racial identity while growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood. Grappling with the challenges of racial identity and struggling to find acceptance and belonging caused trauma, and undiagnosed ADHD further complicated his journey. Despite these obstacles, Marcus’s innate empathy and passion for helping others led him to pursue a career in psychotherapy – providing support and healing to those navigating their mental health challenges. But Marcus’s dedication to positive change continued. In 2023, he became the Director of a Psychedelic Medicine and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) program within one of the largest group practices in Minnesota, bringing innovative approaches to mental health treatment.
In a world yearning for compassion and unity, Marcus embodies hope and healing and finds others who share his mindset. Our space symbolizes a nurturing haven—akin to kind waters that rejuvenate and sustain life. Every element reflects our mission to offer an inclusive and enriching therapeutic experience here. From our culturally sensitive practices to our welcoming environment, Kindwaters Therapy stands as a testament to the power of empathy, understanding, and belonging.
